About Huron
Who is Huron School?
Huron School is made up of approximately 300 students and their families, and has a richly diverse community. We look out for each other, and care greatly for our children and their education! We all strive to make our kids’ learning and social experiences here as positive and memorable as we can. Throughout the year we also host several community events that give us a chance to get to know each other better, and build a stronger bond.
At Huron we celebrate anti-racism, diversity and inclusion! As educators, parents and caregivers we keep paving the way for growth, learning and change. We believe in accessibility, and we are constantly working towards it!
We acknowledge that we are on the lands of the Mississaugas of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat, and we recognize the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples.
We honour our Earth! Huron is a Platinum Level Eco School and is committed to improving our impact on the Earth. We participate in a litter free lunch program and observe a monthly Earth hour, where we power down as much as possible. We support several types of recycling programs, from batteries to toothbrushes!
Huron assemblies bring us all together! Huron hosts 3-5 assemblies a year with amazing experiences and wonderful guests. This past year we were honoured to host Indigenous Elders, Disability Advocates from Holland Bloorview, and even Fred Fox - Terry Fox’s brother! We also saw talented opera singers, learned from professional Lacrosse players and experienced awe inspiring puppet shows among others!
We can’t wait to get to know you!

Faces Around the School
Let’s make the first days of school a little less scary by introducing you to the friendly people and around the school and the everyday processes we rely on to get through the week!

Jamie Price, Principal
Huron is a cherished place to so many. For over a century, Huron has stood as a cornerstone of education, a place where thousands of families, across generations have entered our doors. Our dedicated staff are committed to enhancing the lives of our students and our engaged school council is a testament to our community's strength, always ready to lend a helping hand and building community through school events. At Huron we prioritize creating a haven of safety and support for everyone—parents and students alike. Let us work together to ensure that our school continues to be a place where every individual can thrive and each day our students can work hard, work smart and work together.

Anne Peterson, Office Assistant
When you walk into the office you will see Anne’s smiling face! You will also be hearing Anne’s voice on the phone if you call in to discuss an absence, appointment, or anything else! Anne helps with everything - somehow, she knows all and sees all, and smiles that whole time. We are very lucky to have Anne on our team. If you have a school related question, call and ask Anne! She will put you in the right direction.
Custodial Support
The Custodial team is essential to Huron, and their smiling faces and helpful hands make them Hawkstars all year long! If you see them, make sure you say hello to the hard workers that keep the halls and grounds of our school clean and in great working order!
Your Homeroom Teacher
At Huron, we know that connecting with your homeroom teacher before the year begins is important, however this is something that can’t often happen. In some rare cases, for Full Day Kindergarten, teachers may try to reach out and introduce themselves to the family by way of letter or email before the year begins. Most often however, our first day of school is a great day of greeting and meeting! Students in all classes arrive and meet with volunteers, teachers, or find their names on lists to see what teachers and class divisions they are in. There are lots of smiling faces and friendly helping hands to ease jitters for parents and students! Your homeroom teacher will then send home introduction letters, curriculum overviews, and any other correspondence to warmly welcome you to their classroom.
